El Segundo Police Officers Association Gives Back to Miller Children'sThe El Segundo Police Officers Association (ESPOA) is giving back to charitable organizations that directly impact their community. The ESPOA has chosen Miller's Children’s Hospital Long Beach, El Segundo Elderfest, El Segundo Educational Foundation, Marine Animal Rescue, CASE (supplies grocery money and other items to needy local families) and Meals on Wheels. After careful consideration, the ESPOA chose these charities because they represent organizations that cover interests from environmental, senior citizens, needy families, education and sick kids. Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach is considered the South Bay’s children’s hospital since it is the only free-standing children’s hospital in the area – providing specialized pediatric care for conditions ranging from common to complex. The ESPOA has donated to Miller Children’s to support its leading care and has encouraged other members of the El Segundo community to join them. “We believe that we, as a community, can make a difference for our community,” says Jeff Leyman, board member, El Segundo Police Officers Association. “My wife is an ER nurse at a busy trauma center in LA County and she sees how many extremely sick children get sent to Miller Children’s. Miller Children’s literally saves kids lives everyday and we want to support that.” |
