Harbor Hyundai - Other Local Hyundai Dealers Help Expand Research Programs at Jonathan Jaques Children's Cancer CenterLes Paul feels lucky to be the general manager of Harbor Hyundai. After all, Harbor Hyundai was one of the local Hyundai dealers involved in the Hyundai Hope on Wheels’ Grant Program. Hyundai Hope on Wheels is a nationwide initiative led by Hyundai Motor America, where they partner with Hyundai dealers across the U.S. to raise funds to fight childhood cancer. Hyundai dealers had pledged to donate a total of $3 million to Hope on Wheels based on vehicles sold during the month of September, which is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Hyundai Motor America and local Hyundai dealers recently visited Miller Children’s to present a $100,000 Hope Grant to help the Jonathan Jaques Children’s Cancer Center at Miller Children’s create equal access to pediatric oncology research trials and medical services for non-English speaking patients and families in the greater Long Beach area. “It was a very moving experience seeing all the kids with cancer and their families at the award ceremony,” says Les. “Harbor Hyundai is thrilled to be a part of providing access of care to all families.” During the month of September, Hope on Wheels visited close to sixty organizations across the country to distribute Hyundai Hope Grants in an amount of $100,000 each. These funds are designed to underwrite direct research projects and support meaningful initiatives undertaken by doctors, nurses, social workers, child life specialists and other professionals who work to support children with cancer. “Both of my children were born at Miller Children’s, so I have a deep connection with the hospital and it means a lot to be to be able to give back, says Les. “We’re looking forward to being involved for years to come.” |
