In 2003, at 5 years old, Becca Waxman was diagnosed with leukemia. She was a patient of Dr. Finkelstein and was treated at the Jonathan Jaques Children’s Cancer Center (JJCCC) at Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach. Luckily for Becca, she has survived her leukemia and has been off treatment for five years now and is a happy, healthy 5-year-old.

Throughout the years, the Waxman family has been very involved and supportive of JJCCC and Miller Children’s. Her mother, Jane, is the co-chair for the sponsorship committee for the annual Torch Run. But in Jane’s eyes, this wasn’t enough. She wanted to do more.

Jane is an executive vice president for the Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation and every year for the past five years, her company has given a $3,000 donation to the hospital and has donated hundreds of DVDs and CDs. When she heard their were naming opportunities for the new JJCCC pediatric cancer unit, Jane thought it would be a great way for Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation to show their support and give back on a greater level. She approached the head of the corporation and presented the idea of naming a patient room. In June, it was official – one of the rooms in the new JJCCC cancer unit would officially be named on behalf of the Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation.

“Millers Children’s Hospital Long Beach is a wonderful organization that I became all too close to when my daughter was diagnosed and treated for leukemia. I am fortunate to work for Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation whose compassion and support was overwhelming during a difficult time,” said Jane Waxman. “In honor of Miller Children’s and the amazing work they do, Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation is proudly naming a patient room in the new pavilion.”
