Artful Healing

Weekly Artful Healing workshops bring to life the self-expression of pediatric patients through art.  Resident artist, Denise Clayton-Leonard, truly believes that “art is healing” and she is creating a generation of art lovers at Miller Children’s Hospital.

Artful Healing workshops take place in the playrooms throughout Miller Children’s.  The patients have the chance to participate in various themed arts and crafts activities from collages, jewelry, scrapbooks, etc.  The patients are not only enjoying an activity that takes their mind off their everyday issues around being hospitalized, they’re enhancing their education, learning about environmental responsibility and learning about fine art.

Most recently, Denise is working with Miller Children’s patients to develop the artwork to decorate the hospital’s new pavilion.
