The National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutes (NACHRI), held its annual NACHRI national conference of children’s hospital professionals in March. NACHRI received a record number of proposals submitted from different children’s hospitals across the nation.
Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach was selected for two proposals: a poster presentation on the improvement of Miller Children’s home management plan of care for asthmatic children and a video presentation on an innovative art program, called “Artful Healing.”
The General Pediatrics care team was honored with the award for "Best Overall Poster," for its Children's Asthma Care Core Measures poster presentation. More than 50 children's hospitals submitted poster presentations.
Attendees learned how Miller Children’s developed a therapeutic art program for its patients, and how it showcases the artwork as the primary form of art on display in its new Inpatient Pavilion.
Miller Children’s Hospital is a champion of children’s health, which shows in the emphasis placed on quality care. Miller Children’s is accredited by the Joint Commission and has been named one of the safest children’s hospitals in the nation. By recently employing an electronic medical record, Miller Children’s stays abreast of the leading technologies and initiatives to meet national safety and quality benchmarks.
Through advocacy and government relations partnerships, Miller Children’s is a part of Speak Now For Kids, which is a national grassroots campaign that encourages members of the health care team, parents and family members to be a voice in children’s health care reform.
