Mother Baby Care

To enhance the special bond between mom and baby, mother-baby couplet care is practiced, allowing the baby to stay with mom in her room. Most post partum rooms are private or semi-private with large windows. Nurses provide education and information on breastfeeding and baby care, as well as help with feedings, diapering and other needs. Lactation consultants are also available if additional help is needed in getting started with breastfeeding. New parents are also pampered with special touches like complimentary banana bread and a special book from the Memorial Women’s Hospital League.

To help bond mom and baby, the MemorialCare Center for Women has its own store, Essentials Mother/Baby Store, to ensure that families have everything that mom and baby need. Families can purchase clothes, gifts, basic baby care products and breast feeding supplies, such as slings and breast pumps. Breast pumps are also available to rent through Essentials. The Essentials Mother/Baby Store is located down the hall from new mom’s post partum room.
