Center for Women's Outpatient Clinics

The MemorialCare Center for Women at Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach offers complete outpatient maternity care, through programs in fetal diagnostic care, OB/GYN outpatient care, and an outpatient lactation program. Perinatologists, OB/GYN’s, breastfeeding lactation consultants, labor & delivery nurses and the entire outpatient maternity health care team work hand-in-hand to provide appropriate evaluations and design a comprehensive care plan to help expectant mothers have a safe, healthy and, as full-term as possible, pregnancy.

The outpatient maternity care team sees expectant mothers with a range of conditions including, pregnant women pre-disposed to a high-risk pregnancy, high-risk mothers due to diabetes, low-risk mothers and mothers who are at risk for fetal compromise. The Center for Women outpatient clinics provide programs and education to support breastfeeding mothers, and offer support groups and assistance.  The MemorialCare Center for Women Outpatient Specialty Centers include the Fetal Diagnostic Center, the Lactation Clinic and the OB/GYN Clinic.

Miller Children’s Stands Apart

• The fetal diagnostic program is the one of the only centers in the area that has perinatologists (maternal fetal specialists that specialize in high-risk pregnancies) interpreting the results of the fetal diagnostic tests to ensure mother and baby get accurate diagnosis and care.
• The outpatient lactation program offers full-service lactation consultation, education and support by board-certified registered nurse lactation consultants.
• The outpatient OB/GYN program offers pharmaceutical services to help control diabetes and specializes in high-risk pregnancies for expectant mothers who have diabetes. This specialized care for this population is not found in many other OB/GYN clinics in the area.
