Showcase your ongoing exciting research efforts in basic, clinical and translational science. Investigators from Children's Hospital Orange County (CHOC), Miller Children's Hospital Long Beach and UC Irvine are invited to come together for the first time and explore new ways to promote collaborations in child health research. “United in Discovery” is the inaugural symposium to be held at the UCI Student Center on May 11.

This is a terrific opportunity to catalyze new collaborations among the many talented physicians and scientists affiliated with these three centers. We would like to encourage your participation in order to demonstrate our commitment to the success of this initiative.

Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach is committed to basic science, translational and clinical research. Whether through a national consortium or enrollment in a clinical trial for one of Miller Children’s care centers, physicians and the health care team at Miller Children’s work to uncover the complex intricacies of pediatric illnesses. This keeps Miller Children’s at the leading edge of technology and gives the pediatric health care community access to the latest research data. Miller Children’s partners with NIH (National Institutes of Health), NACHRI (National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutes) and the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), nationally, and with USC, UCLA and UCI locally.

Miller Children’s clinical research programs support clinical trials in many sub-specialties allowing physicians—armed with the latest in scientific thinking—to provide state-of-the-art treatment options to children who have illnesses where there is no standard therapy or where conventional therapy is failing.

Miller Children’s leading research programs include:

  • The oncology clinical research ensures that Miller Children’s pediatric patients have access to most current treatment modalities.
  • Miller Children’s is the only hospital on the West Coast to offer the fetal growth study.

Many of Miller Children's physicians have published research articles and have been a part of ground breaking research initiatives.
