Pediatric Imaging

The pediatric imaging department provides complete imaging (radiology) care to patients staying overnight in the hospital (inpatients), outpatients and the emergency department. Miller Children’s radiologists and imaging care team are experts at caring for children using the latest imaging technology. Images and laboratory interpretations for physicians are accurate and timely to help facilitate diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Leading Technology to Improve Care

The center utilizes the latest direct capture radiographic technology – allowing the pediatric imaging team to save images directly to the hospitals’ electronic medical records system. Designers of the new pavilion have also included space to expand the size and capabilities of the imaging center.

The new imaging center in state-of-the-art inpatient pavilion at Miller Children's is more than three times larger than the hospital’s previous imaging department and includes.

• Two dedicated radiography (x-ray) rooms
• Two radiography & fluoroscopy rooms
• Two ultrasound rooms
• Dressing rooms with baby changing tables
• Large radiologists’ reading room
• Conference room for training, education and meetings

Patient and Family Centered Care

Parents appreciate some of the Center’s “low-tech” features of the pediatric imaging center. Parents often accompany their child during their imaging study, which may require them to leave their other children in the waiting room. As part of Miller Children's commitment to providing patient and family centered care, a playroom for patients and siblings is located adjacent to the imaging center in the lobby of the new pavilion, and is staffed by certified Child Life Specialists.
