Community Support

Endowments assist the Stramski Children’s Developmental Center in meeting its general operating expense to ensure quality and comprehensive care to the patients of the community. The Stramski Center relies on community support from philanthropic friends to continue bringing leading care to infants, children and adolescents. The Stramski Center could not survive if it wasn’t for the charitable giving of community groups, such as the Steel Magnolias and the Memorial Medical Center Foundation.

Steel Magnolias

The Steel Magnolias raise funds, promote goodwill and increase public awareness of the needs and care of the Stramski Children’s Developmental Center. The Steel Magnolias collect generous gifts through a variety of fundraising events, such as their annual Gala, Home Tours — where people can tour some of Long Beach’s finest homes — and their annual golf tournament.

The Steel Magnolias’ do much of this great work on behalf of Dr. Geraldine Stramski, the founder of the Stramski Children’s Development Center. Dr. Stramski recognized the need for a team approach to treating the many problems children with special needs experience and the effect it has on families.

Memorial Medical Center Foundation

The Memorial Medical Center Foundation provides the Stramski Center with endowment interest funding to help support the special needs of the Stramski Center patients.
